var title         = 'New River Trail - Galax to Fries Junction';
var intro         = 'The New River State Park is in reality a 57 mile long multiuse trail.  With a bipod southern ending at Fries (freeze), Va., and Galax, Va. and a junction near a tunnel at what is called Fries Junction.  The northern end is at Pulaski, Va.  Overall the trail surface was in excellent condition during my fall of 2007 rides.  There are multiple access points which are shown on a map available on the Virginia State Parks website.  There are very few rough spots in the trail surface and those are very mild.  Still, I\'d recommend riding a mountain bike but it could be safely used on a cross bike and even on a road bike in most areas.  Water and food are found in only a few spots so users need to plan ahead.  Repairs and maintenance also appear to be a challenge.  The battery in my computer died while I was in Pulaski and the only bike shop was closed on a Monday.  A broken bike probably means a spoiled trip so make sure your \"horse\" is ready for the ride.  I would guess that inner tubes in some sizes would be available at Kmart and Walmart which are located in the nearby towns but expert repairs and parts appear to be hard to find... at least to this stranger.  This segment was a round trip of around 25 miles.  The trail is more or less flat from end to end with at most 1% grades other than short (50 feet or less) climbs to cross roads and bridges.  If I can do... anyone can!';
