December of 1788

This page contains thumbnail versions of pages from the Charleston City Gazette from December of 1788. Viewing these will show that only one ship came from the North of Ireland to Charleston during this period, the Irish Volunteer. I have created images of all four pages for some editions and only the page with the "Custom House" article in others. This decision was based on the importance of what I found on other pages of the edition and the importance of that edition in regard to Robert Lathan's statements during his citizenship hearing. Reading these pages takes some work and good eyes. Please remember that this page was created from photo copies of microfilms of a 200 plus year old newspaper. Also, type looked different then so, an 1788 "s" looks very much like a huge "f" would look today.
